At approximately 0230 this morning, the Duluth Fire Department responded to report of a structure fire at 317 N. 16th Ave. E. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire on the first floor of a two story single family dwelling.

Firefighters from the UMD Fire Station and Headquarters Fire Station made entry into the structure and quickly extinguished the spreading fire. The fire had spread into the concealed wall cavities, reaching the second floor.

The occupants of the home came home and discovered the fire, and reported it to 911. There were no injuries reported, and the origin and cause remains under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal's Office.

Initial damage estimates include $30,000 to the structure, and an additional $10,000 to its contents.
