NATURE OF INCIDENT: Duluth Man remains in Critical Condition

INCIDENT LOCATION: 86th Avenue West and Grand Avenue
On Sunday, March 13th, 2011, at 9:19AM Duluth Police responded to a single-vehicle personal injury accident at 86th Avenue West and Grand Avenue.
Duluth Police Crash Investigators were called to the scene and determined the driver Richard Jukich, a 78 year old, male resident of Duluth was driving alone in a vehicle eastbound on Grand Avenue and went off the right side of road and hit a utility pole, causing his vehicle to spin out. No evidence of braking was found at any point during the incident. The driver was wearing his seatbelt and both front and side airbags deployed.
It is believed that Richard Jukich had a serious medical episode just prior to the crash. He was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center and remains in critical condition in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
