NATURE OF INCIDENT: Drunk Driver in Personal Injury Accident Arrested

INCIDENT LOCATION: Rice Lake Road and Central Entrance
On Monday March 14th, 2011 at 6:20AM Duluth Police responded to a personal-injury accident involving a Duluth Police Investigator driving an unmarked squad car.
The Investigator’s squad was hit by a vehicle that failed to stop for a red light driving westbound on Central Entrance. The striking vehicle was driven by Duane Porter, a 25 year old from Bemidji, MN. Both vehicles were only occupied by the drivers.
Porter and the Police Investigator were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for injuries suffered in the crash. The Investigator remains hospitalized in stable condition. Porter was treated and released to Duluth Police and transported to the St. Louis County Jail on charges of Criminal Vehicular Operation, 3rd Degree DWI, Driving after Suspension, Red Light Violation, No Seatbelt and Driving over the Center Line.
