INCIDENT LOCATION: 4430 McCulloch

At 7:26 AM this morning the Duluth Fire Department Responded to a fire at 4430 McCulloch St in the Lakeside Presbyterian Church.  Initial fire crews found smoke in the building and located a fire in the basement level kitchen area.  A hose line was taken down the stairs and the fire was knocked down before it spread to the rest of the church.  The fire set off an alarm system in the church which triggered an automatic fire alarm.

The fire heavily damaged the kitchen and storeroom.  It also spread heavy smoke throuhgout the basement dining area.  Light smoke spread to the rest of the building causing minor damage.  Damage estimates are $50,000 building and $25,000 contents.  There were no injuries caused by the fire.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be a freezer unit located in the kitchen area.
