INCIDENT LOCATION: 801 East Second Street, Apartment #216

 

On Saturday May 14th, 2011 at 11:19AM the Duluth Police Department, Duluth Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to a report of smoke coming from 801 East Second Street, Apartment #216.

The investigation revealed that a second floor resident went into the hallway after the fire alarm activated and he could see smoke coming from apartment #216 across the hall. He went in and found the apartment filled with smoke, put out a small fire inside and found the 73 year old male resident, Martin Henry Peterson unresponsive. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Peterson’s extensive pre-existing medical condition caused his death.

The Duluth Fire Department continues to investigate the cause of the fire. No further information is available at this time.
