On Monday June 6th, 2011 at 10:51 AM Duluth Police officers were called to an address in the 5700 block of West 8th Street on a domestic assault. A female was outside screaming that someone was going to kill her.
Officers arrived and found the female who said she had been physically assaulted by her husband. He was identified as Joe Bennett, a 23 year old, resident of Duluth. There were two young children at the address that were safely removed. The officers then made contact with Joe Bennett who was still inside of his address. He threatened to shoot the officers and was holding a 30/30 rifle. After a short standoff officers were able to convince the male to drop the rifle.
He was arrested and charged with 5th Degree Domestic Assault, Felony Domestic Assault by Strangulation and Felony Terroristic Threats. No further information is available at this time.
