DULUTH COMMUNITY TO CELEBRATE JUNETEENTH SATURDAY, JUNE 18TH

The community is invited to join in the Juneteenth Celebration on June 18th from Noon to 7 pm at the Central Hillside Community Center located at 12 E 4th Street.

Juneteenth is a holiday that celebrates the Emancipation of African Americans from slavery but has come to signify a Freedom Jubilee for people of all ethnic and cultural heritages. It is celebrated in June, the month that the last African Americans were informed of their Emancipation after the end of the Civil War.

This year, the Duluth Juneteenth celebration will include a food, storytelling, music, health fair, children's activities and a variety of vendors and community groups. Musical acts will include Voices of Vision a gospel group, the popular band “1017” and “Boku Frequency”.  The African American Men's Group will be serving a free lunch for the community.
