City of Duluth and St Louis County partner to make local road improvements.

In a cooperative effort between the City of Duluth and St. Louis County, construction will commence on Arrowhead Road from Arlington Avenue to Kenwood Avenue.  St. Louis County is currently working the Arrowhead Road from Arlington Avenue to South Rice Lake Road project and the City of Duluth will begin work on the Arrowhead Road (from South Rice Lake Road) to Kenwood Avenue project.

The St. Louis County road project SAP 69-604-065, SAP 118-160-022 between Arlington Avenue and South Rice Lake Road includes widening this section of roadway to provide new turn lanes.  New traffic signals are also part of the project.

The City of Duluth project, 0828TR between South Rice Lake Road and Kenwood Avenue includes milling (removal) of 5" of existing bituminous pavement, reclamation of 2" of bituminous pavement,  overlaying with new bituminous pavement.  Work also includes replacing sections of curb and gutter, minor sidewalk replacement, and striping.

Road closure and construction will begin on Thursday, July 7^th and is expected to last four to five weeks.  Street signs will be erected to direct traffic to the detour route. Accessibility for local residents will be available, but residents should remain cognizant of changing conditions during the construction.

Motorists going west on Arrowhead Road should go to Rice Lake Road to Martin Road to Howard Gnesen Road to Arrowhead Road.  Motorists going east will go from Arrowhead Road to Howard Gnesen Road to Martin Road to Rice Lake Road the Arrowhead Road.  Going north on South Rice Lake Road will be closed at Arrowhead Road
