Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 122 N 60th Ave E. First arriving unit, 6 Engine which arrived just under four minutes from dispatch, reported extensive flames coming from third level attic windows. They also reported that the two occupants and their dog had safely evacuated the building.
Eight fire units and nineteen firefighters were on the scene of this fire for three hours in very warm and humid conditions, and managed to contain the fire to the attic. Unfortunately, water caused extensive damage to the lower levels of the home. Damages are estimated at $70,000 to the structure and $40,000 to contents.
The American Red Cross helped to provide shelter for the two residents and their dog.
One Duluth firefighter was transported to the hospital via ambulance during this fire.
