Police and Supervisors union ratify contracts
The two unions that represent the City of Duluth police and department supervisors have ratified their contracts. The Police Union ratified their contract on August 24 by an 87-18 vote and the City of Duluth Supervisory Association voted unanimously in support of their contract on August 27. Both unions agreed to no salary increases and one year contracts.
“I appreciate both unions’ commitment to work with the administration to promote our shared goal of strengthening the organization and ensuring fiscal stability. We are hopeful that we will achieve agreement with the Firefighters Union and AFSCME in the same collaborative manner,” says Mayor Don Ness.
The Supervisory Association’s President Nick Petrangelo, stated that “Our membership clearly understands the need to keep the City of Duluth financially stable. The unanimous vote to approve the 2010 contract reflects our members’ strong commitment to the City and the citizens of Duluth.”
