U.S. Coast Guard Inspection of Aerial Lift Bridge to take place
September 6-8
[Duluth, MN] - From September 6 through September 8, 2011 inspectors will be utilizing an inspection truck on the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge at Mile 0.25 over the Duluth Ship Canal. From 0900 to 1600 daily the bridge will be secured to masted navigation for vessels under 300 gross tons. From 1200 to 1300 daily the bridge will open and pass any vessel. Vessels able to pass under the bridge may do so at any time with caution. The bridge will open on signal 24-hours a day for commercial vessels over 300 gross tons. Mariners are requested to proceed with caution at a slow no wake speed.
Motorists are advised there may be an obstructed lane with the location of the truck. Traffic control devices will be installed during the specified inspection period each day to provide for safe pedestrian and motor travel across the bridge.
