The Duluth Fire Department responded with six units and seventeen firefighters to 1114 Redbud Street at 18:13 on 11/22/2011 to find a small fire involving a wet/dry shop vacuum that had apparently overheated and burned while left unattended during an attempt to dry wet basement carpeting. The fire was quickly extinguished before it spread beyond the room of origin, but not before the house suffered from extensive smoke damage. Estimated damages are $45,000. Fire crews were on the scene for approximately 50 minutes.
