The Duluth Police Department, Saint Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Hermantown Police Department, Proctor Police Department, UMD Police Department, Floodwood Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol conducted enhanced DWI enforcement to kick off the Thanksgiving Holiday on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011.
Local law enforcement made 148 driver contacts resulting in 3 people being arrested for DWI. Additionally, 3 tickets were written for Driving after Revocation, 7 tickets were written for Speeding, 1 for Seatbelt Violation and 1 Equipment Violation. Officers also gave out 130 warnings.
Local law enforcement, Towards Zero Death and Driving 4 Safe Communities are asking for everyone’s help as impaired driving will continue to be a community concern which may result in serious consequences. With the help of local media and increased public awareness, the local Thanksgiving enhanced DWI enforcement effort was successful.
