At approximately 15:30 hours this afternoon, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a fully involved garage fire with a vehicle inside at 4323 Gilliat Street. Number 6 Engine from the Lakeside FIre Station was the first to arrive and reported heavy fire. Pre-connect lines were stretched and the fire was knocked down and under control within minutes.

Fire companies from UMD and Headquarters also responded and assisted with water supply and overhaul. No injuries were reported.

The garage was a single story building, and is considered a total loss. The vehicle was a full size pickup truck and is also a total loss. Total estimated dollar loss is just over $50,000.

The vynil siding on the rear of the house was melting and likely seconds from ignition when firefighters arrived.

The Duluth Fire Marshal's office is investigating as to the origin and cause of the fire.
