NATURE OF INCIDENT: Police Alert Citizens of Recent Purse Snatchings

Duluth Police are alerting citizens of two recent purse snatchings in downtown Duluth. 

On Monday, January 23rd, 2012 1at 12:31 PM Duluth Police Officers were called to the parking ramp next to the Fon-du-Luth Casino in the 100 block of East Superior Street. A female was walking to her vehicle on the first level of the ramp when a male suspect came up behind her and knocked her down and tried to take her cell phone, she resisted and the suspect took her purse and ran off. The suspect was described as a black male 20-29 years old, 5’ 6”, average build, grey hooded sweatshirt, baggy pants and brown shoes.
 
On Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 Duluth Police Officers took a report from a female that at about 7:30 A.M. she was walking northbound in the 100 block of North Third Avenue East when she was approached from behind by a male suspect who took her purse that was around her shoulder and ran off westbound on First Street. The victim described the suspect as 5’ 6” to 5’ 8”, thinner build, black coat, blue or black and white shoes, dark pants and a navy colored ski mask. She said the suspect either had dark hands or was wearing dark colored gloves.
