NATURE OF INCIDENT: Two Juvenile Males Arrested for Prowling Vehicles
CASE NO.: 12016319
INCIDENT DATE: 1/29/2012
INCIDENT TIME: 6:43PM
INCIDENT LOCATION: 5000 block of Colorado Street

On Sunday, January 29th, 2012 at 6:43PM Duluth Police, with assistance from a Saint Louis County Sheriff’s Deputy were checking the area of 52nd Avenue East and Superior Street for two male suspects that were reported to have been prowling vehicles in the 5000 block of Colorado Street.

At 7:29 PM a Duluth Police Officer located two juvenile males matching the suspect’s descriptions, walking eastbound from 48th Avenue East in the alley just above Pitt Street. One suspect fled on foot, the other suspect threw something on the ground and fled on a stolen BMX style bicycle. A K-9 was just arriving in the area and started a track as officers set up a perimeter. Officers located and arrested both suspects a short time later. The suspects were 15 and 16 years old, both residents of Duluth.

Along with recovering the stolen BMX style bike, officers located the item the one suspect threw on the ground, a stolen car stereo. A stolen I-Pod was also found on one of the suspects.

The suspects were both transported to the Arrowhead Juvenile Center pending formal charges of Possession of Stolen Property, Fleeing on Foot and Underage Consumption of Alcohol.

Anyone with any information about these crimes is asked to contact the Duluth Police Department Property Crimes Unit at (218) 730-5160. The investigation is continuing. No further information is available at this time.
