INCIDENT LOCATION: 200 block of West 3rd Street
On Saturday, January 28th, 2012 at 2:46AM Duluth Police were called to the 200 block of West 3rd Street by a resident reporting that he returned home from work and found the front door of his house had been kicked in and money had been stolen.
Initial investigation revealed the suspect to be Michael Hampton, a 47 year old male, resident of Duluth. Officers put out an attempt to locate on Hampton and the vehicle he was driving, a maroon 2001 PT Cruiser.
At 4:07AM a Saint Louis County Sheriff’s Deputy located the vehicle and a traffic stop was made at Piedmont Avenue and 12th Street, Hampton was driving the vehicle. In a subsequent interview with Duluth Police Hampton admitted to the burglary.
He was transported to the Saint Louis County Jail and is currently being held pending formal charges of 2nd Degree Burglary and 4th Degree Criminal Damage to Property.
