BY: Public Information Officer Brad Wick

NATURE OF INCIDENT: Duluth man arrested after shooting into neighbor's homes
CASE NO.: 09360310
INCIDENT DATE: 9/15/2009
INCIDENT TIME: 8:06 AM
INCIDENT LOCATION: 3400 block of West 2nd Street

The Duluth Police are investigating a shots fired call in the 3400 Block of West 2nd Street.

On Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at 8:06 AM, Duluth Police officers were called to the 3400 block of West 2nd Street on the report from a male caller that his neighbor, Jason Jablonski, had just fired two rounds from a shotgun into the caller’s home. The caller stated that Jablonski then went back into his own residence.  Arriving officers set up around Jablonski’s home and within a short time Jablonski voluntarily came out without incident. He was taken into custody.

A search warrant was executed on Jablonski’s home and the shotgun used in the incident, along with numerous other firearms and a large amount of ammunition, were located inside and taken from the residence.   Officers also located two spent shotgun casings outside between homes.  Upon further investigation it was discovered that Jablonski had fired only one round into the original caller’s home, while the second round was shot into another neighbor’s residence.  It is unclear why Jablonski shot into either of the neighbor’s homes.

Jason Lee Jablonski, age 39, was transported to Duluth Police Headquarters and then to the St. Louis County Jail where he is being held pending formal charges for second degree assault, reckless discharge of a firearm, and damage to property.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Duluth Police Department and has been referred to the Violent Crimes Unit.
