The Duluth Fire Department responded to report of a garage fire at 1919 E. Superior St at 0255 this morning. The initial arriving crew from UMD reported a fully involved three car detached garage, with heavy fire impinging on the adjacent occupied home and vehicles in the driveway.

Initial efforts were focused on protecting the residence. Damage to the home was limited to a few broken windows and melted objects. Additionally, two vehicles in the driveway were significantly damaged by the fire.

Crews were able to control the fire within 45 minutes, and remained on the scene for over two hours overhauling the structure and assisting with the investigation.

No injuries were reported, and initial damage estimates are set at $75,000. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by the Fire Marshal's office.
