City’s Chief Financial Officer to Lead Advanstar Finance Operations

[DULUTH, MN] – Chief Financial Officer Adele Hartwick will leave her post at the City of Duluth to rejoin Advanstar Communications, Inc., one of the world’s largest producers of trade shows and events. Hartwick will lead the company’s day to day financial operations from Advanstar’s Duluth office, where it currently employs over 70 staff members that work in infrastructure operations.
“As we continue to strengthen our operations, Advanstar is focused on hiring and retaining elite talent, and we are pleased to bring Adele Hartwick back to the company,” said Advanstar CEO Joe Loggia. “Hiring Adele to operate from our Duluth office is also a reaffirmation that Advanstar is committed to keeping quality jobs in the city of Duluth.”
Hartwick joined the City of Duluth in January of 2010, after retiring from Advanstar, where she managed over 100 people, provided leadership on strategic planning and budgeting, financial accounting and reporting including SEC compliance and all aspects of treasury operations.
“I worked with Adele at Advanstar earlier in my career and was delighted when she joined the City. Adele has affected significant changes and improvements to our financial operations and she will be sorely missed. Though disappointed to see her go, Adele has an opportunity to positively impact jobs here in Duluth,” said David Montgomery, the City’s Chief Administrative Officer.
“I have appreciated the opportunity to serve the residents of Duluth for the past two and a half years and feel privileged to have worked with a group of talented, dedicated people helping the City achieve financial stability,” said Hartwick.
Hartwick will leave her position in early June. The City will begin its search for a new Chief Financial Officer immediately.
