Christopher Eng selected as Director of Business & Economic Development for City of Duluth

[Duluth, MN] – Christopher Eng has been selected as the City of Duluth’s Director of Business and Economic Development. Eng will lead the City of Duluth’s economic development initiatives and serve as Executive Director of the Duluth Economic Development Authority (DEDA).
 
“We are excited to have Chris join our team and provide leadership on economic development initiatives. The City and DEDA have achieved significant progress over the past several years and Chris brings in the right skills and experience to move Duluth towards continued prosperity and growth,” said Chief Administrative Officer David Montgomery.
 
Eng is leaving his position as Executive Director of the Chisago County Housing & Redevelopment Authority and Economic Development Authority located in North Branch, Minnesota. Eng has over 20 years of experience managing community development programs, housing and economic development activities; managing millions of dollars in federal grants; helping businesses relocate or expand; and administering economic development grants and loan programs. Eng has also been a small business owner and worked as a business consultant for start ups.    
 
“It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to work with and serve the residents and businesses of Duluth! I love this community and have since I was a young child. To me, Duluth is the greatest City in the world to live work and do business. I very much look forward to the wonderful opportunities Duluth has in store and am excited to begin my new journey,” said Christopher Eng.
 
Eng is a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional and has held leadership positions in economic development agencies across the state such as the Economic Development Association of Minnesota and the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials; the Chisago Lakes Community Foundation; a statewide Green Jobs Taskforce; and numerous other community organizations.     
 
Eng will start his new position on June 25, 2012, pending City Council approval at their May 29, 2012 meeting.
