City parking ramp gets new name and new management
[Duluth, MN] – A city owned parking ramp is getting a new name and soon a new look. The City of Duluth has renamed the parking facility located at 115 East Superior Street the “East Superior Street Public Ramp.” Effective today, the city has switched the parking ramp from third-party operation by the adjacent casino to third-party management by Interstate Parking Company of Minnesota. This change comes as a result of a comprehensive parking study conducted in 2010 and was sponsored by the City of Duluth and the Greater Downtown Council. Interstate Parking is contracted to professionally manage and improve upon the city’s off-street parking facilities.
The East Superior Street Public Ramp currently is being surveyed by Interstate Parking, city staff, and a structural engineering firm to develop plans for cleaning and restorative maintenance. The initial cleaning projects are anticipated to require a partial or full closure of the facility for a short period of time. Alternate arrangements for contract parkers will be determined prior to the closure. Once the project details are finalized, the closure information will be publicized.
The East Superior Street Public Ramp offers 24/7 parking open to the general public.
