At approximately 0400 this morning, the Duluth Fire Department responded to report of a structure fire at 4024 W. 6th St. Upon arrival, fire companies from the West Duluth Station found a room and contents fire on the second floor of a two story residence. All occupants were evacuated, and firefighters quickly advanced a hoseline up an interior stairway and extinguished the fire.
The fire damage was contained to the single room, with moderate smoke damage throughout the second floor. The main floor of the home remains undamaged. Initial damage estimates including contents are set at $15,000.
There were no injuries reported as a result of this fire. In addition to the West Duluth Fire Station, firefighters responded from Lincoln Park and Downtown as well. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal's office.
