The Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Northeast Leg starts at 8:00AM Tuesday, June 19th, 2012, from the steps of City Hall on Priley Drive. We will start running “The “Flame of Hope” torch from there to Boy Scout Landing in Gary New Duluth. The Torch Run is an event to raise awareness for the Special Olympics and their mission to work with special needs athletes around the world.
Our run locally is held in conjunction with other runs around the state and culminates with the torch being passed to an athlete who will use it to start the official flame signifying the beginning of the Special Olympic Summer Games in the Twin Cities.
The Minnesota Torch Run is supported by the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association, Minnesota F.O.P. and the Minnesota State Patrol Troopers Association.
Please arrive prior to the start and help local Law Enforcement promote Special Olympics.
If you have any questions, please contact Officer Mike Thamm at (218) 340-5659.
