[Duluth] - Local Emergency Responders are advising the public to practice caution during this flood emergency.

Residents should stay away from streams, culverts, and standing water. Never underestimate the power of moving water. Children should be supervised and remain away from all water at this time. Water banks are unstable due to the heavy rain. Emergency responders have had several people nearly drowned during this emergency situation.

Residents should not come into contact with overflow areas. It is likely that standing water is not sanitary water.

Motorists should avoid barricaded roads and find alternate routes. Barricades are there for the protection of the public. Roads may be undermined due to the rain and remain unstable.

Local Emergency Responders are seeking the media’s help in passing along these prevention tips to prevent a tragedy.
