Results of Duluth's National Citizen Survey available on city web site
 
[Duluth, MN] - The results of the Duluth National Citizen Survey are now available on the city web site: http://www.duluthmn.gov/surveys/national_citizen_survey/
This report of the City of Duluth survey provides the opinions of a representative sample of residents about community quality of life, service delivery, civic participation and unique issues of local interest.
 
This periodic sounding of resident opinion offers staff, elected officials and other stakeholders an opportunity to identify challenges and to plan for and evaluate improvements and to sustain services and amenities for long-term success. The results are included in this final report which city officials can use in planning and budgeting for the future.
 
The 2012 survey results show increased community pride and optimism.
-          78%  of people felt that the quality of life in Duluth was “excellent” or “good” compared to 68% in 2009
-          56% of respondents felt Duluth was headed in the right direction, a 23% increase from 2009.
-          An overwhelming 72% rated Duluth’s image or reputation as “excellent” or “good” compared to 58% in 2009. 
 
Duluthians’ commitment to libraries and city parks continues to benefit every member of our community. The percentage of citizens that view Duluth’s public library services as good or excellent has jumped to 82% - a 22% increase from 2009! And it’s no surprise that 81% of Duluthians approve of our premier city parks.  
 
The results demonstrate a promising future for Duluth but the City is aware it needs to continue its focus on housing, the city’s infrastructure, jobs and prosperity. 
 
The National Citizen Survey is sponsored by the International City /County Management Association in cooperation with National Research Center, Inc. The questionnaire and survey procedure was designed based on the experience of hundreds of local governments of all sizes, from small to large.
