SUBJECT: Changes for Vehicle Traffic at Duluth International Airport
BY: Pakou Ly, Public Information Coordinator

Duluth, Minn. – A critical next step for the New Passenger Terminal project will cause all vehicle traffic on a portion of Grinden Drive to be rerouted.  Starting on Wednesday, August 1st, 2012, the passenger drop off, passenger pick up, the bus stop, taxi stand area, and rental car ready lot locations will be relocated to new areas, which are depicted on the attached map.

“This step is necessary to begin the next phase of construction for the new passenger terminal apron area.  We recognize there’s going to be a period of adjustment,” says Tom Werner, Interim Executive Director of the Duluth Airport Authority.

From now until the new passenger terminal opens, drivers will only be able to stop momentarily at the new designated drop off and pick up locations.  There will be security personnel present to keep efficient traffic flow and address safety concerns.  In order to minimize traffic congestion, we encourage drivers who are picking up arriving passengers to use the Cell Phone Waiting Lot.  This area will allow drivers to park and wait for the arriving passenger free of charge.

Please visit www.duluthairport.com to view the traffic flow map and YouTube video.  The airport will remain fully operational throughout entire project, which is slated for completion in early 2013.
