Mark Lewis has a felony warrant for his arrest for violation of probation stemming from two 1st Degree Residential Burglary convictions, 69DU-CR-09-5601 and 69DU-CR-09-5272.
On 8/02/2012 at 12:54 PM the Duluth Police Department put out a press release seeking the public’s help in locating Mark Anthony Lewis. At 7:12 PM we received a call from someone that had seen the Duluth Police “Property Crimes Wanted Person of the Week” on the news and provided information as to where he may be. Duluth officers located Lewis in the area of 19th Avenue East and 7th Street and when he spotted officers he fled on foot, when officers caught up to him he fought with them before being handcuffed.
He was transported to the Saint Louis County Jail and lodged on the warrant and the new pending formal charges of Obstructing Legal Process (fighting with police) and Misdemeanor Fleeing on Foot.
Through the hard work of our Patrol Officers and Property Crimes Investigators we catch a lot of these property crime crooks and many fail to appear for court or don't follow their conditions of probation. In an effort to have a greater impact on property crime offenders, we recently started working with local media by identifying wanted property crime offenders weekly. So far we have been very successful in arresting those identified. Additionally, we have received tremendous feedback from the community on this new effort.
Once again the Duluth Police Department would like to thank the public and the media for assisting us with the arrest of the Duluth Police “Property Crimes Wanted Person of the Week”!
