Duluth receives $543,000 grant to hire 50 temporary flood disaster relief workers
[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth Workforce Development division has been awarded $543,000 from a National Emergency Grant program intended to cover wages for temporary employment of 50 qualified individuals to engage in flood disaster relief employment. The funds were made available through the Workforce Investment Act and are administered through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
The City of Duluth will be hiring eligible individuals immediately to engage in flood clean up and restoration of public infrastructure. Eligible individuals are those who lost their job as a result of the June 2012 flood, are dislocated workers currently not receiving unemployment benefits, or have had long term unemployment. Workers will be paid an hourly wage plus benefits and will be employed for up to 3 months.
Interested applicants must contact the Duluth Workforce Development Center at (218) 302-8400 or visit the office located at 402 West First Street.
