Public Invited to Duluth Energy Vision Planning Session October 5th
What is YOUR Energy Vision for the Future of Duluth?

[Duluth, MN]- The Duluth Community-wide Local Energy Action Plan (LEAP) project kicked off on Monday, September 17th at Lake Superior College with an Energy Visioning Public Engagement Session.  Thoughts collected during this session will help the Energy Leadership Team and the public to craft a guiding Energy Vision Statement for the plan.  The public is invited to participate in this open meeting on Friday, October 5th from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the Ecolibrium3 Office, located at 2304 West Superior Street.

Nearly 40 community stakeholders attended the energy visioning session, including representation of local residents, energy organizations and businesses, local government, public education and other groups. Members of the LEAP Energy Leadership Team presented on energy accomplishments, current activities, and future plans across four energy sectors, including residential, public, commercial/industrial and transportation.

Following the presentations, participants engaged in an interactive brainstorming session to provide feedback to the following vision questions: "It is December 31, 2011, and the community of Duluth has completed its first 10 year Community-wide Local Energy Action Plan. What does Duluth's energy success look like, and how have things changed?"

Responses from the public energy visioning session are available at the Duluth LEAP website: www.arrowheadplanning.org/duluthleap  If you were not able to attend the October 5th public meeting you are encouraged to submit your energy vision thoughts by Wednesday, October 3rd to Bonnie Hundrieser, ARDC Project Facilitator at bhundrieser@ardc.org or call (218) 529-7527.

The Duluth LEAP planning process is made possible by the City of Duluth, in part from the City's Energy Management Fund and part by the Knight Fund of Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation and the Minnesota Power Conservation Improvement Program.
