NATURE OF INCIDENT: Juvenile Female & Male Assaulted - One Suspect in Custody

INCIDENT LOCATION: 10 Block East Fifth Street

On Saturday, October 13th, 2012 at 12:05 AM Duluth Police were called to the 10 block of East 5th Street for an unknown medical call.  

Officers arrived and found a 17 year old female outside who had a stab wound to her chest and had been hit in the head with a blunt object. They also located an 18 year old male victim who had been hit in the head with a blunt object. The female was transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital for a life-threatening injury and after surgery, is now listed in serious condition. The male victim was interviewed and released. Initial investigation provided that both victims had been assaulted by a suspect with a wooden baseball bat and the female victim had been stabbed by a second suspect with a knife.
 
On Saturday, October 13th, 2012 at 4:40 AM a Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy stopped to assist a motorist having car trouble near Poplar, WI. The motorist was a 17 year old juvenile male suspect we were looking for in the assault case that occurred in Duluth. The juvenile male was transported to the Douglas County Jail and lodged pending extradition. The juvenile has been formally charged with Aiding and Abetting 1st Degree Assault and 3rd Degree Assault.
 
We are still looking for the second suspect. The case is active and remains under investigation. No further information is available at this time. Anyone who has any information about this case is asked to call 911.
