Peg Spehar selected for Chief Financial Officer
Peg Spehar, interim CFO for the City of Duluth, has been selected by Mayor Don Ness to be Duluth’s Chief Financial Officer.
“This is such an amazing time to be a public servant working hard to solve problems and meet challenges,” said Peg Spehar. “I love coming to work every day and feel privileged to serve Duluth—both as an organization and as our community.”
Ms. Spehar has worked for the City of Duluth since 1980 when she began as a budget/operations analyst. She’s been part of the City’s finance team for 32 years. Ms. Spehar graduated with honors from Gustavus Adolpus College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Planning & Environmental Studies. She is a member of the National Government Finance Officers’ Association, the Minnesota Government Finance Officers’ Association, and the League of Minnesota Cities. She serves as a Budget Reviewer for the Distinguished Budget Program and is a graduate of the Leadership Duluth program.
“Peg brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this position,” said Chief Administrative Officer David Montgomery. “Not only does she know our operations inside and out, but she continues to bring new and innovative thinking to the City’s finances.”
Ms. Spehar’s name will be submitted to the Duluth City Council for approval in the form of a resolution at the November 13th Council Meeting.
