INCIDENT LOCATION: Auto Lube, 601 East Fourth Street
On Monday, April 8th, 2013 at 7:55 PM Duluth Police were called to a burglary in progress at 4th Street Auto Lube, 601 East 4th Street.
A witness found a window broken at the business and saw a person inside near the cash register that did not work there. Officers arrived and located the two suspects inside of the business and they were taken into custody without incident. The suspects were identified as Barry Martin, 35 year old male resident of Duluth and Jacob Truong, a 24 year old male resident of Duluth.
Initial investigation revealed the suspects broke an east side window and entered the building. When the first officer arrived on scene he saw the first suspect, Barry Martin inside rummaging through a tool chest. Officers found an undisclosed amount of cash on him that was taken from a business money bag. The second suspect Jacob Truong was located inside a short time later hiding under boxes in an attic storage area. The suspects had placed tools a laptop and other items from inside the business in a bag.
Jacob Truong has the following convictions in Minnesota:
2007-Possession of Stolen or Counterfeited Checks
2010-DWI
2011-DUI & 5th Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance
2011-Theft & Tampering with a Motor Vehicle (Misdemeanors)
2012-Misdemeanor Theft
Barry Martin has the following Minnesota convictions:
1996-DWI
1996-Aggravated DWI
2004-Gross Misdemeanor DWI
Both Martin and Truong were transported to the Saint Louis County Jail for 3rd Degree Burglary and 4th Degree Criminal Damage to Property.
