NATURE OF INCIDENT: Duluth Man Arrested for Robbery & Felony Lottery Fraud

INCIDENT TIME: 2:50 AM
INCIDENT LOCATION: Highland BP, #2 East Central Entrance
On Wednesday, April 10th, 2013 at 2:50 AM Duluth Police were called to the Highland BP, #2 East Central Entrance on a robbery.
Initial investigation revealed that a male suspect wearing all black and a ski mask came into the store and grabbed the clerk by the shirt and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect left on foot westbound with an undisclosed amount of stolen money and lottery tickets. No one was injured.
At 11:12 AM Duluth Police Violent Crimes Unit Investigators located and arrested the suspect at the Little Store, 3802 Trinity Road. He was identified Ryan Zimpel, a 26 year old male resident of Duluth.
Ryan Zimpel has the following convictions in Minnesota:
Ø 2007-Theft
Ø 2008-DWI
Ø 2008-Fleeing in a Motor Vehicle
Ø 2010-Possesion of Marijuana in a Motor Vehicle & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Ø 2010-Disorderly Conduct
Ryan Zimpel was transported to the Saint Louis County Jail and booked for Felony Simple Robbery, Felony Lottery Fraud and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle.
