NATURE OF INCIDENT: 4th Suspect in 2nd Degree Attempted Murder Case ARRESTED

On Sunday, April 21st, 2013 at 11:07 PM Officers from the Superior Police Department responded to Essentia Hospital in Superior, Wisconsin on the report of a 36 year old male that had been dropped off who was found badly beaten in Superior. On Monday, April 22nd at approximately 4:40 AM the victim who had life threatening injuries, was transported to Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth for emergency surgery.
Subsequent investigations by the Superior Police Department and Duluth Police Department determined that the incident happened in the city of Duluth on Skyline Parkway and Earl Street. Investigators determined that the victim was with four individuals and was assaulted. After the assault the victim was transported by the suspects to an address in Superior, Wisconsin. He was then transported to the Essentia Health in Superior. The victims and suspects were all known to each other. The victim remains stable, in critical condition.
Superior Police Department arrested two suspects:
- Melissa Coal Martinson, a 39 year old female
- Chad Loren Siegel, a 40 year old male
Arrest warrants were issued for 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, 1st Degree Assault and Kidnapping for:
- Jason Michael Carlsness, a 29 year old male (**age corrected from original release**)
- Terrance Gewel Yance, a 27 year old male (**age corrected from original release**)
On Friday, May 3rd, 2013 a search warrant was executed in the 4100 block of West 5th Street regarding this investigation. Jason Carlsness was located and arrested and transported to the Saint Louis County Jail on the Felony Arrest Warrants.
Melissa Martinson and Chad Siegel are currently being held in the Douglas County Jail for charges from Douglas County related to this incident. Also, Saint Louis County has an active warrant on Chad Siegel for 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault and Kidnapping on and he is currently awaiting extradition.
Terrance Gewel Yance has an active arrest warrant for 2nd Degree Attempted Murder.
UPDATE:
On Friday, May 3rd, 2013 at 5:45PM PM the Duluth Police Department received information that Terrance Yance was arrested in Saint Paul, MN on the Felony Arrest Warrants.
