On Wednesday, May 15th, 2013 at approximately 5:40 pm, two police officers on foot observed a male riding a bicycle down 1st Avenue East at a high rate of speed. The cyclist crossed Superior Street and attempted to go up a ramp into Lake Place Park when he hit a pole. The officers provided first aid and the cyclist was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance where he later died. He was not wearing a helmet. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
UPDATE: The male killed in the bicycle accident was Koantonio Dean Farley, a 36 year old Duluth resident who was originally from the Chicago, IL area.
