NEWS CONFERENCE RE: SUPERIOR STREET
 
May 29, 2013, 1:00 p.m., MINNESOTA POWER PLAZA
 
[Duluth, MN] - Mayor Don Ness, CAO Dave Montgomery, and other City officials will join Kristi Stokes, President of the Greater Downtown Council, and David Ross, President of the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce, this afternoon at 1:00 P.M. at the Minnesota Power Plaza (Lake Ave & Superior St) to discuss plans to make necessary repairs to a five block portion of Superior Street in Downtown Duluth – from Lake Avenue to N 5th Ave West.
 
City crews began repair work on the block between Lake Ave and 1st Ave West yesterday, which is expected to wrap up later this week or early next week – depending on the weather. Crews expect to work block by block to minimize disruption to downtown businesses and traffic. This project is being done in close coordination with the Greater Downtown Council and the Duluth Chamber of Commerce.  The larger vision for Superior Street will require ongoing coordination and communication with the community which will include public forums, stakeholders meetings, and frequent updates.
