INCIDENT LOCATION: Miller Hill Mall, 1600 Miller Trunk Highway
On Thursday, May 30th, 2013 at 9:52 PM Duluth Police responded to the Miller Hill Mall,1600 Miller Trunk Highway on a front sidewalk for the report of a domestic assault. The male suspect who assaulted the female victim called 911 and said that he just tried to choke and kill his ex-girlfriend.
Officers arrived and found the victim, a 21 year old female resident of Duluth. She was transported to Essentia St. Mary’s hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. The male suspect was identified as Matthew Paul Shober, a 22 year old resident of Duluth.
Initial investigation revealed that Shober and the victim had recently broken up. He showed up on Thursday night at her place of work and they went outside to talk while she was waiting for a bus. He got upset, choked her and said he was going to kill her before he slammed her head against the wall knocking her unconscious. He then kicked her in the head several times.
Matthew Shober was transported to the Saint Louis County and has been formally charged with Attempted Murder-First Degree-While Committing Domestic Abuse with a Past Pattern of Domestic Abuse and Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.
