Duluth Police investigate a Pedestrian/Motor Vehicle Personal Injury Crash involving 10 year old Woodland Middle School student.
Today at 12:34 PM, Duluth Police responded to a Pedestrian/Motor Vehicle Personal Injury Crash at Woodland Middle School. A ten year old female student was crossing East 8th Street in the 2500 block when she ran into the side of a vehicle that was traveling west on 8th Street. Buses had been lined up on the north side of 8th Street to pick up students when the ten year old student ran out from between two of the buses and into the side of the moving vehicle. The female student was trying to cross 8th Street to the lower side where her parent was parked. The vehicle she struck was moving slowly at the time of the crash and not at fault, they were also there to pick up a student.
The ten year old student was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to St. Mary’s Medical Center with a broken left leg. She also suffered minor contusions and abrasions. Her injuries are non life threatening.
Duluth Police want to remind students and pedestrians to use care when crossing the street. Always use crosswalks and if entering the traffic lane from behind parked vehicles, use extra caution as vehicles traveling on the roadway may not see you.
