City of Duluth and Bayfront Blues Festival extend agreement to hold event at Bayfront Festival Park through at least 2016
Amid all the planning for big acts and big crowds at the 25th annual Bayfront Blues Festival, which runs this Friday-Sunday, August 9-11, one additional detail regarding the event’s future has also been finalized: the Blues Festival and the City of Duluth have extended their contract to hold the event at Bayfront Festival Park through at least 2016.
“The Bayfront Blues Festival is our community’s largest, annual music event and brings worldwide attention to Duluth, so extending the festival’s park rental contract for three years was an easy decision,” said Duluth Mayor Don Ness. “Bayfront Blues Festival President Chris Mackey puts on a very well run event, and we’re looking forward to it continuing on Duluth’s Bayfront for many more years.”
“The City of Duluth as the park’s owner, and the DECC as the park’s manager, provide a great venue to help us make the Bayfront Blues Festival one of the most popular in the country,” said Mackey. “Extending this contract was easy, because the Bayfront is where the Bayfront Blues Festival belongs. This event’s loyal fans can start making plans now to be back here again in 2014, 2015 and 2016.”
For additional information, contact Duluth Mayor Don Ness at 218-730-5230 or Bayfront Blues Festival President Chris Mackey at 715-394-6831, ext. 101.
