Public meeting on proposed Highland water tank scheduled for December 2
The City of Duluth is undertaking a major water system improvement program that will not only provide for near-term water demands but will also serve the City for the majority of this century. A key element of the program is the construction of a new elevated water storage tank in the Duluth Heights area.
The public is invited to an informational meeting on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at 6:00 pm at the Duluth Heights Community Center, 33 West Mulberry Street. The meeting will discuss the scope of the work and project requirements including: schedule, tank location, staging and restrictions. City staff will be available to address questions.
Currently two elevated tanks supply water for the Highland zone. The tanks are located north of Olive Street between N. Arlington Avenue and N. Basswood Avenue. The existing 500,000 gallons of storage is not sufficient to meet the current or future needs and storage requirements. Construction of a new 1,000,000 gallon elevated storage tank at the existing site is proposed.
