SUBJECT: Traffic Advisory: Gobble Gallop 5K Races

NATURE OF INCIDENT: Gobble Gallop 5K Races

INCIDENT TIME: Race Starts at 9:00 AM
INCIDENT LOCATION: Downtown Duluth

Beginning at 8:45 AM this Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 26, 2009, traffic along portions of Superior Street in Downtown Duluth, and also along London Road by Leif Erickson Park, will be diverted for the Thanksgiving Day Gobble Gallop Races.
 
No Parking signs have been posted on both sides of Superior Street between 13th Avenue East and 5th Avenue West. Violators may be tagged and towed.
 
Traffic delays will occur for approximately two hours as motorists will be diverted off Superior Street between 13th Avenue East and 5th Avenue West. Motorists should be alert for officers directing traffic in these areas and use caution.
 
5th Avenue West will be the only access to Canal Park and the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) from Downtown.  Traffic from Canal Park wanting to access Downtown will also be required to use 5th Avenue West. 
 
Traffic coming from the Northbound and Southbound I-35 and exiting to Lake Avenue will be temporarily diverted to Canal Park. .
 
Downtown traffic should return to normal by approximately 10:30 AM. East Superior Street traffic should return to normal by approximately 11:00 AM.
