Traffic Advisory –UMD Homecoming Parade
On Thursday October 3rd, 2013 UMD will host their Homecoming Parade on Superior Street in Downtown Duluth.    The parade floats and bands will lineup on Michigan Street and at 6pm will proceed up 1st Avenue West,  then west on Superior Street to 4th Avenue West. The parade will disband on Superior Street between 4th Avenue West - 5th Avenue West, where school band buses will be parked and waiting.
At 4:00pm all eastbound traffic on Michigan Street will be diverted up 4th and 3rd Avenues West, and Michigan Street will be blocked completely at 3rd Ave W to 1st Avenue West for parade lineup. The 5th Avenue West Off Ramp from southbound I-35 will also be closed. The Off Ramp to Lake Avenue will remain open.
At 4:00 pm 1st Ave W will be closed to down bound traffic from Superior Street.
At 5:00 pm the westbound lanes of Superior Street from 4th Avenue West to 5th Avenue West will be closed to traffic to park school buses. The eastbound lanes will remain open until Superior Street closes at 5:30 for the parade.
At 5:30 pm Superior Street closes to traffic from 1st Avenue West to 5th Avenue West.
The parade route on Superior Street will be posted no parking after 4pm, along with parts of Superior Street, and 1st Avenue West and 2nd Avenue West between Michigan Street and Superior Street.
DTA buses will use 1st street for westbound and 2nd street for eastbound service during the event.
Drivers are urged to use caution when driving the area of the event.
