INCIDENT LOCATION: 135 W. Faribault St

Duluth Fire Department units responded to a reported garage fire at 135 Wabasha St at 10:25 a.m. on Thursday, September 26. The 14x20 foot garage was fully involved with fire when the first unit arrived about 3 1/2 minutes after dispatch. Radiant heat from the garage ignited the vinyl siding of the adjacent house. The house was protected from further damage by a fire crew operating a hose. The garage and contents were a total loss. There was no vehicle in the garage. Fire department crews were on the scene for approximately two hours. The fire was likely caused by a hot lawn mower coming into contact with an artificial Christmas tree stored in the garage. Total damages were estimated at $20,000.
