The Duluth Fire Department responded to a single family home at 1025 W 2nd St for report of a house on fire. Upon arrival, heavy fire was reported on the main floor with extension to the second floor. One male occupant was home at the time of the fire, and he escaped and reported the fire to a neighbor. Firefighters contained the blaze and extinguished it quickly. Extensive overhaul was necessary due to the quantity of contents. No injuries were reported, and the fire will be investigated to determine a cause. Fire crews responded from downtown, Lincoln Park and Spirit Valley. The Red Cross was on the scene to assist displaced individuals. It is believed the property is insured.
