INCIDENT LOCATION: 1300 block East Second Street
On Thursday, October 3rd, 2013 at 2:33 PM Duluth Police and Investigators from the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1300 block of East Second Street and on the person of Duluth crack dealer Russell Eddie Lee Jones, a 37 year old male resident of Duluth.
During the execution of the search warrant on Jones investigators located approximately 7.5 grams of crack cocaine (packaged for sale), and $2,350.00 in U.S. currency. During the execution of the search warrant on the residence investigators located a digital scale, more crack cocaine, and additional drug packaging.
On August 23rd, 2013 Jones pled guilty to Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Sale of Crack in a Public Housing Zone, as well as Wrongfully Obtaining Assistance (trading crack for EBT cards). He was originally scheduled to be sentenced in Saint Louis County District Court this afternoon on those charges.
Jones also has these prior convictions:
1996 - Carry/Possess Firearm
1997 - Possession of Cocaine
1997 - Possession of Cocaine
1999 - Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
2002 - Possession of a Controlled Substance
2004 - Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
Russell Jones was transported to the Saint Louis County Jail and has been formally charged for Second Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance.
