Duluth Police Arrest Four This Week for Vehicle Prowls/Motor Vehicle Tampering
On Monday, October 21st at 7:33 AM Duluth Police responded to the call of an unwanted person at a residence in the 1600 block of East 1st Street. An officer arrived and a male outside fled on foot and after a lengthy foot chase involving several officers the 17 year old male was apprehended. Subsequent investigation revealed that he and a 15 year old male had prowled a vehicle in the North Shore State Trail parking lot located off Martin Road on Saturday, October 19th. They had both ran away from a local residential facility on Friday, October 18th, 2013. Officers located a cell phone on each of the runaways that was stolen during the vehicle prowl.
The 17 year old was arrested for Escape from Custody, Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Motor Vehicle Tampering, Fleeing a Police Officer on Foot, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Synthetic Marijuana. The 15 year old was arrested for Escape from Custody, Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Motor Vehicle Tampering
On a separate incident on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013 at 10:02 PM Duluth Police responded to the report of two males who had just entered a vehicle in the 200 block of Parkland Avenue. Officers arrived along with a K9 who started a track from the vehicle that led to two suspects who were identified as Erik Richard Domas, a 28 year old male and Peter Herbert Dahl, a 30 year old male.
Both Duluth residents were arrested for Motor Vehicle Tampering.
In 2013 Erik Domas has been formally charged in Saint Louis County for the following:
March - Theft (Misdemeanor)
April - Burglary 3rd Degree & Felony Theft
April - 1st Degree Burglary, 3rd Degree Burglary & 2nd Degree Assault
May – 1st Degree Damage to Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, Misdemeanor Theft & Motor Vehicle Tampering
Peter Dahl has the following convictions in Minnesota:
2001 - Simple Robbery
2002 - 3rd Degree Assault
2003 - 3rd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct
2004 - 1st Degree Burglary
2005 - Trespass
2012 - Trespass
The Duluth Police Department would like to remind citizens of Duluth that vehicle prowls are a crime of opportunity, if you take away the opportunity you WILL reduce these crimes. Please keep your vehicles locked, park in well-lit areas, do not leave valuables in your car and report suspicious activity in your neighborhood to 911.
