 Three charged in connection with the sale of heroin.

On November 6, 2013 investigators from Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force along with investigators from the Boundary Waters Drug Task Force arrested three individuals in connection to the sale of heroin.

GILBERT DAJUANE MCKENZIE 04/25/77 aka “Black” aka “B” was arrested after he sold approximately 14 grams of heroin to a cooperating witness who was working with investigators.

On November 8, 2013 MCKENZIE was formally charged in Saint Louis County District Court with 1st degree sale of heroin.  He is currently being held in the Saint Louis County Jail in Duluth. 

MCKENZIE is a long time drug dealer with prior convictions and arrests for selling drugs in Duluth.     

·         4th degree controlled substance crime – 2001 Convicted

·         2nd Degree Sale of Cocaine – 2003 - Convicted

·         In April of 2012 MCKENZIE was formally charged with 1st degree sale of crack cocaine and four counts of second degree sale of crack cocaine

·         Additionally, MCKENZIE was formally charged in December of 2012 with 1st degree sale and 1st degree possession of heroin.

·         MCKENZIE posted bail on the all the charges from 2012 and the final disposition of those cases are still pending.

 

During the same incident investigators arrested JAMES DALTON TURNER 01/01/91 for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and 5th degree possession of heroin.  TURNER was a passenger in a vehicle with other individuals who had also come to meet MCKENZIE to purchase heroin.  MCKENZIE was using the public bathroom at the Plaza Super One grocery store to meet customers and sell them heroin. 

On November 8, 2013 TURNER was formally charged in Saint Louis County District Court with possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and 5th degree possession of heroin.  He is also being held at the Saint Louis County Jail in Duluth.  TURNER has a prior conviction for 2nd degree Burglary (a felony). 

In a separate incident on November 7, 2013 LSDVCTF investigators arrested, LAMARR DERAE BARBER 07/07/1982 aka “B”.  He was taken into custody for selling heroin.  During a search of BARBER task force investigators located approximately 10 grams of heroin.  BARBER is currently on parole in the state of Illinois and has prior convictions for selling drugs in 2004.  BARBER is originally from Chicago, IL. 

 

On November 8, 2013 BARBER was formally charged in Saint Louis County District Court with 1st degree sale of heroin.
