Adele Hartwick selected as Chief Financial Officer
 

Adele Hartwick has been selected by Mayor Don Ness to be Duluth’s Chief Financial Officer.

 

“Adele will be an outstanding addition to City Hall,” said Mayor Don Ness.  "Adele has extensive finance experience and will bring strong leadership to the organization.  Adele joins the City at a crucial time and we are fortunate to have someone of her integrity and caliber. David Montgomery has been doing an incredible job serving as both Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Financial Officer and I thank David for his willingness to take on these responsibilities.”

Ms. Hartwick has over 30 years of experience with Advanstar Communications in Duluth. During her time with Advanstar, Ms. Hartwick managed over 100 people, provided leadership on strategic planning and budgeting, financial accounting and reporting including SEC compliance and all aspects of treasury operations. She also managed the company’s facilities and insurance programs. Ms. Hartwick was involved in countless mergers and acquisitions and their operational integration into the company and has extensive experience with financial IT systems design and implementation. 

 

Ms. Hartwick was born and raised in Duluth though she has traveled all over the world and moved away twice only to return home each time. Ms. Hartwick says that of all the places she has visited, there is no better place to live than Duluth. Ms. Hartwick has been a volunteer with countless organizations such as the Grandma’s Marathon Board, the Sacred Heart Music Center, MCCU Community Youth Foundation and the Young Athlete’s Foundation, to name a few. In addition, she was a member of the Greater Downtown Council and the Duluth Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Hartwick received awards from Advanstar for performing above and beyond the call of duty and for her outstanding contributions as an employee.   

 

 “Adele’s executive-level corporate experience will bring tremendous strength in our efforts to achieve long-term financial stability for the City of Duluth. Adele brings a strong organization-wide approach to financial management,” said David Montgomery, Chief Administrative Officer. 

 

Ms. Hartwick’s name will be submitted to the Duluth City Council for approval in the form of a resolution at the December 7 Council Meeting. Upon approval, Ms. Hartwick will start the job on January 4, 2010.
