 Traffic Advisory-Additional Street Closures

On Friday, November 22nd , the 55th Annual Christmas City of the North Parade will be held on Superior Street in Downtown Duluth. The unexpected construction closure of southbound I-35 will add some additional traffic congestion and road closures.

The southbound I-35 on-ramp at 26th Ave E will close at 5:30pm and re-open at approximately 8:30pm. Traffic will be directed West on London Road during the closure.

-Vehicles wishing to continue South on I-35 need to follow MNDOT detours on London Road
to 12th Ave E, up to 3rd Street, then West on 3rd Street to Mesaba Ave.

-Vehicles wishing to get into downtown can either enter onto Southbound I-35 at 21st Ave E,
which will only take them to 5th Ave West, OR follow the MNDOT detour route to 3rd Street.

The best routes to the DECC or Aquarium lots are:
   - From Northbound I-35, take the 5th Ave W Exit Ramp, then turn right.
   - From Southbound I-35 (Enter at 21st Ave E), the only exit is 5th Ave W, then turn left.
   - From the Downtown area, take 1st Street West to 6th Ave W, down to MICHIGAN Street, left to
5th Ave W, then turn right.
   - All traffic OUT of Aquarium & DECC Lots can only proceed up 5th Ave W to take either the
Northbound I-35 Entrance Ramp, OR continue North on 5th Ave W to turn right on MICHIGAN
Street to either 1st or 3rd Ave E.  I-35 Southbound can be accessed by turning LEFT on 3rd St to
     Mesaba Ave, then turn left.

Motorists are urged to drive carefully in the affected areas, and to ALLOW EXTRA TRAVEL TIME.
